The Problem Solver Basil Theofanides
	Basil Theofanides is the Training Director and founder of Command Dog Training School, one of the largest & most successful professional dog training schools in Melbourne. Dog's Life Magazine named Basil as Dog Lover of The Year 2006 Basil, a Nationally Accredited Trainer has 25 years expertise in the industry which began in 1976 when he acquired his first puppy "Taras" a German Shepherd Dog, through the Kamarn Breeders Foundation. This was a scientific breeding organisation for the selective breeding of German Shepherd Dogs in Australia. During his time with Kamarn, Basil puppy-walked two additional puppies under the expert guidance of Kamarn's trainers & subsequently donated these pups to the Customs Department to be trained as "sniffer dogs". Further, in 1977 he joined a dog obedience club where he trained his dog to Advanced Level, and then went on to complete an instructor course with the club that he successfully passed in 1978. In the early 80's Basil developed Kamarn's first demonstration team of working German Shepherd Dogs and with their handlers conducted many displays around Melbourne and participated in the Moomba Festival. By 1983 Basil established a Security firm specialising in man & dog teams & consequently began training security dogs for his firm. At the same time he began training all breeds of dogs with their owners in obedience and problem solving, particularly dealing with aggression problems in dogs. In 1988 the Command Dog Training School began operating in the format you see today. It has had many TV and Radio personalities train through its courses. Furthermore Basil has appeared on Burke's Backyard, Talk To The Animals, A Current Affair and on talkback radio. More recently March - April 2006, Training Director Basil Theofanides, delivered his DogSure training program across Melbourne and regional Victoria as part of the Bureau of Animal Welfare's AMO Regional Training Seminars. These successful seminars provided a valuable insight for AMO's on identifying behaviours and dealing with aggressive dogs including their capture & transport. Basil is the Vice President & founding member of the AAPDT Inc. (Australian Association of Professional Dog Trainers Inc). This is the only organisation representing professional dog trainers in this state, that is recognised by the Victorian State Government. Consulted to the Department of Justice, Correctional Services Division on their Dog Trainers Course. 3 years military service with 2 Commando Company ARES - Williamstown Vice President & founding member of the AAPDT (Australian Association of Professional Dog Trainers Inc). Program Director for D.O.G.S. of Australia (Certified Instructor Courses) Key member of the writing group with the Bureau of Animal Welfare for the development of Codes of Practice for Dog Training Establishments & Day Care & Boarding Establishments. Consults regularly to the government on canine issues Key presenter on canine aggression and behaviour for the AMO (Animal Management Officers) Regional Training Seminars, Bureau of Animal Welfare, Victoria Regularly conducts Canine Communication workshops for Animal Management Officers Has been featured on Burke's Backyard, Talk To The Animals, A Current Affair, talkback radio & more recently on Dr Harry Cooper's video "Buying & Caring For Your Puppy".   Currently Command Dog Training School has 6 training venues situated in Melbourne.
